چکیده
In this paper, an overview of the techniques applied to AC electric propulsion field has been done. Actual study cases of electric ship propulsion schemes are considered. An impartial comparison between three-level converters versus two-level converter from the viewpoint of electric ship propulsion requirements has been done. Diodeclamped three-level converters using direct torque control (DTC) proved to be the most suitable convertors for electric-ship propulsion compared to two-level converters. An attempt to represent the behavior of a ship’s propulsion system comprising squirrel cage induction motor driven by a three-level converter has been conducted. The effectiveness of the system has also been verified through Psim 9.0.3 tools.

A New N-Level Inverter Based on Z-NPC
First of all, in this paper, the topology and operation of the three-phase three-level Z-source inverter based on neutral-point-clamped (Z-NPC) are studied. Moreover, different combinations of permissible switching states and control signals are explained for this inverter. In this paper, the topology of the three-phase three-level Z-NPC inverter is extended for an n-level state. Also, a combin...

This paper proposes two new soft-switching transformerless converters with high voltage conversion ratio. These proposed converters achieve soft-switching each with a single auxiliary resonant cell. The merit of these converters is reduced switching losses with lesser number of devices. The main switching devices are turned off with zero current switching (ZCS). Apart from the soft-switching fe...

Linear AC power supplies can be replaced by their nonlinear switching counterparts due to the lower voltage drops and higher efficiency and power density of switching-mode inverters. Multilevel cascaded H-bridge (CHB) converters are the preferred inverter structure because of modular configuration, control, and protection. The output voltage quality in CHB converters depends on the number of ou...

In this paper, a new topology is proposed for three-phase to single-phase matrix converters, where more voltage levels are produced in the output in comparison with the conventional topologies. In addition, a new control method based on minimum error between the generated and the desired output voltages is proposed for three-phase to single-phase matrix converters. In the proposed control metho...
متن کاملSpace Vector Modulation Based on Classification Method in Three-Phase Multi-Level Voltage Source Inverters
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are commonly used to control the output voltage and current of DC to AC converters. Space Vector Modulation (SVM), of all PWM methods, has attracted attention because of its simplicity and desired properties in digital control of Three-Phase inverters. The main drawback of this PWM technique is
its complex and time-consuming computations in real-time ...
